It has been several months since I last posted a blog on here. Yes, I am still alive, and yes, I do still enjoy Southern Gospel Music!
There are a few concerts coming up in the state of Oklahoma that I plan to attend:
The 40th Annual Seminole Gospel Sing started last night and will continue tonight and tomorrow night. I was unable to attend last night due to w--k but do plan on attending tonight and tomorrow night.
Tonight will have the McKameys, Gold City, Talley Trio, Arnolds, Mark Trammell Quartet, Master's Voice, and Aaron Wilburn. It'll be my first time ever to see the Mark Trammell Quartet (I also never got the chance to see them as a trio); hopefully they will have their new CD so I can pick it up!
Tomorrow night will have Jeff & Sheri Easter, Jason Crabb, Brian Free & Assurance, the Greenes, LeFevre Quartet, the Arnolds, and Aaron Wilburn.
The latest "Singing News" listed a Crist Family concert in Norman next Friday night (8/27), but a closer look into it reveals that this is a private event.
After this weekend's concerts, here are two other concerts that I am planning on attending:
Saturday, September 18: Liberty Quartet, Inman, KS - Liberty Quartet is based out of Boise, Idaho; thus, they do not come out to this area very often! This concert stop is on their way back from NQC in Louisville.
Thursday, October 21: Brian Free & Assurance, Clinton, OK - This is another concert promoted by Spreading the Word Ministry. They also promoted the Booth Brothers concert in February, the Dove Brothers concert in March or April (which, looking back, I wish I had attended!), and the Gold City concert in July.

Upcoming Concerts
For the next 3 weekends, I am planning on attending 3 concerts in the area. Tomorrow, I will be in Post, Texas, to see the new Gold City in concert. On February 28, I plan to be in Clinton, OK, for a Booth Brothers concert, and on March 6, I plan on seeing Legacy Five in Bethany, OK. I will try to review these concerts to the best of my ability, but I'm not used to reviewing a concert; I usually just sit back and enjoy the good music. :)

Booth Brothers concerts rescheduled
The Booth Brothers concerts scheduled for Thursday night in Clinton and Friday night in Tulsa have been postponed due to the forecasted winter storm.
The Clinton concert will now be on Sunday, February 28, and the Tulsa concert will be on Monday, March 1. With my work schedule, there is no way I can attend the new Tulsa concert date (although I may now be able to attend the Clinton concert). Thankfully, they are refunding the tickets if one cannot go to the rescheduled concert date.
In my opinion, these events just prove even more that the Booth Brothers are a class act. I hope to be able to attend their Clinton concert and support this fine group.

Concert This Weekend
On Saturday night 1/23, Frank Arnold is hosting a concert at the Yukon Fine Arts Auditorium. This concert will feature Guy Penrod, the Hoppers, Jeff & Sheri Easter, the Talley Trio, and the Dove Brothers.
I attended a similar concert to this in Yukon in 2005. That concert featured Gold City among other groups. At that time, Gold City was Bill Lawrence, Jonathan Wilburn, Steve Ladd, and Daniel Riley. They still had the Band of Gold at this point. I remember this concert well because 1) it was the last time I saw Gold City in concert (I plan on seeing them when they are in Tulsa in April for another Frank Arnold concert), and 2) I got an autographed picture signed by all of the group. This was about a year before Doug Riley went to heaven so this concert has bittersweet memories for me.
Speaking of Gold City, that is what I'm listening to right now...

Booth Brothers Concerts
The Booth Brothers will have two concerts in Oklahoma later this month. The first will be at the Clinton Middle School Auditorium in Clinton on Thursday, January 28. The other concert will be at the First Baptist Church of Tulsa on Friday, January 29. I plan on attending the Tulsa concert.
This will be my 2nd time to see the Booth Brothers in the past couple months, after never seeing them in concert before. The 1st time was at a Gaither Homecoming concert in Tulsa in November. I liked what I saw and heard from them there, and purchased their "09" CD. I plan on buying more of their CDs when I am at the concert and supporting this wonderful trio.

Introduction
Good morning and welcome to the Oklahoma Southern Gospel blog!
My name is Eric Stuve and I am a Southern Gospel fan from Oklahoma City. I am 26 years old, my birthday is July 12, and I have been married to my wonderful wife Katie since October 25, 2008. I came to know Jesus Christ as my personal savior on July 18, 1996, when I was 13 years old. Katie & I are members of Highland Hills Baptist Church.
I have many interests other than Southern Gospel, but my main interest is in roads & highways and taking pictures of highways around the country. I have 2 websites for that hobby, OKRoads.com and OKHighways.com, and I maintain a blog at okroads.blogspot.com. I also enjoy sports & video games, and am a fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, Atlanta Braves, Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas Cowboys, and Detroit Red Wings.
My love for Southern Gospel started in 2001 when I was a senior in high school. I started getting CD's of the Cathedrals, Gold City, and the Inspirations. Most of my CD's to this date are from these wonderful quartets. In 2006, I attended my first Gaither Homecoming concert in Oklahoma City, and at that time, I became a fan of Ernie Haase & Signature Sound. Most of the CD's I have bought since then have been from EHSS.
On September 30, 2009, I got an iPhone, and I confess that since then, I have used it more for the iPod than for the phone! Having access to iTunes has made it much easier for me to download Southern Gospel music from several other groups besides the ones I have CD's for, including Legacy Five, Greater Vision, and Triumphant Quartet, among several others. It's been wonderful listening to other groups and realizing there was more Southern Gospel music out there than I ever thought before. I currently have 834 Southern Gospel songs on my iPod, which includes the CD's I had before and the songs I have downloaded.
With this blog I hope to accomplish a few things:

With this blog I hope to accomplish a few things:
- Mention Southern Gospel concerts in Oklahoma
- Review the concerts I am able to attend
- Provide my opinions on news in the Southern Gospel world
- Keep all comments and commentary as positive as possible
I look forward to what the future has in store and I hope this blog becomes a good source of information about Southern Gospel concerts in Oklahoma!
